Vicar's update 13th June
What a wonderful weekend of celebrations as we marked 150 years of the St Stephen’s Church community! It was good to see so many local people popping in during the weekend to look at the History Exhibition. Our Sunday Services were full of joy and it was an honour to have Dr David Ison with us – you can listen to his talk here. The children experienced a Victorian Sunday School and it was great to enjoy a delicious hog roast together.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to organize the weekend. The team who spent months researching and producing the history exhibition, those who cooked, served, cleared up and moved furniture - you are much appreciated. I can’t name you all but I do want to single out Jane Maffett our Special Events Coordinator who masterminded the whole weekend and worked so hard throughout – thank you Jane!
Coming up: this Sunday (18th) we welcome Mark Tate, leader of The Grove missional community on the Gurnell Grove Estate and on 25th June our former curate Steve Morris is coming to speak.
The Community Fete on 2nd July is just around the corner. This is the one Sunday in the year when we take church out of our building into Cleveland Park and offer a fun afternoon for the community, all completely free. We love this chance for everyone to show the love of Jesus to our community, through our hospitality and our conversations but it really needs us all to pull together so please help if you can. Could you assist with transport, set up, teams of different sorts, pack down, put away? There really is a job for everyone – please sign up here, on the lists at church or contact Jane Maffett direct firstname.lastname@example.org.
The St Stephen’s team who serve at the Ealing Soup Kitchen are short of volunteers for this coming weekend (17th/18th June). If you could spare a few hours to help on either Saturday or Sunday please contact Andrew or Jen Whadcoat on email@example.com
Have a good week.
With my love
