What is Ash Wednesday?

ash wednesday people

Ash Wednesday derives its name from the tradtition of burning palm crosses from the previous year's Pam Sunday and marking one's head with the ashes in an act of repentance.  It is the start of Lent, a season of fasting, prayer and growth, leading up to Holy Week and Easter.

This year St Stephen's will be holding two services on Wednesday 6th March at 9.30am and 8.00pm, including communion and 'ashing'. All are invited to join.
