Vicar's update 7th March
What a lovely morning we had as we celebrated Mothering Sunday. It was great to welcome many visitors and to give all the women the gift of a plant as a thank you for all that they do.
In the notices I mentioned the Diocese of London’s Lent Appeal to help persecuted Christians in Syria and Iraq. The gift of £70 would feed a family for a month but whatever you can give will help many who are experiencing unimaginable suffering. Please do plan to give between now and Easter by using a blue Gift Aid envelope.
Next Saturday (12th) we are holding a Spring Clean and Odd Job Morning from 10am – 2.30pm. Could you come and help even if it’s just for an hour? No expertise is necessary just the willingness to get stuck in and smarten up our building ready for Easter.
It is just 10 days until we host a professional production of Amazing Grace, the true story of John Newton. Have you got your tickets yet? They cost just £7.50 and can be bought at church or from the Oddments Theatre website but time is running out. Please come and bring your friends. The play including the interval lasts about 2 hours and is best suited to people age 14+.
This year we are planning to run a Holiday Club for local children at the end of the school summer holidays (Tuesday 30th August- Friday 2nd September). This will be a major outreach event and we’ll need lots of help. Would you be interested in being part of the team? We will need people to produce and distribute publicity, welcome and register children, lead small groups, play music and perform in drama, organise crafts, prepare refreshments and be general helpers. Please write or speak to Caroline Newbold to express interest or for more information.
Have a great week.
