Vicar's update 9th May           Steve4to5-3244373775-O

You may know that the Archbishops of Canterbury and York have called Christians to use the time between Ascension Day and Pentecost as a season of prayer for others to come to faith in Jesus (more details here).   As part of that, tomorrow (Ascension Day) we are joining with local Christians in a prayer walk starting at St Stephen’s at 6.45pm, journeying via St Barnabas Pitshanger Lane and ending at St Peter’s Mount Park Road in time for a service at 8pm.  I would love you to join me for all or part of the evening to pray for our local community.

Amanda Miah, our Communications Manager is planning to return to the USA in the summer and we will need to fill the post.  We are wondering if anyone in our Church family is able to fill it on a temporary basis?  The role is for 18 hours per week and requires someone who has proficient IT skills (to drive our website and MS Office programmes), is an efficient administrator, a good self-starter and has excellent interpersonal skills.  Interested – please speak to me asap.

The next Women’s Breakfast is on Saturday 21st May at 9am.  The theme is ‘In the Lion’s Den – facing life’s challenges with God’ and the speakers will be our very own Teresa Morrish-Griffin and Sophie Johnson.  As usual it is free but donations are asked on the day to cover costs.  Do sign up or speak to Caroline Newbold for more information.

This Sunday (8th) we mark the work of Christian Aid with special services at 9am and 10.30am, a sale of goods and lunches at Church – more details on the website.  Do come to hear about and support this important work.

Have a great week.

With my love and prayers

Steve
