Vicar's update 12th May           Steve4to5-3244373775-O

As you know our Archbishops have designated this week as a Week of Prayer (see here).  Can I encourage you to find some extra time this week to pray, especially for some of those you know who aren’t yet Christians?  Each day this week we have a service at Church (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday Morning Prayer at 8am and Wednesday Communion at 9.30am) and will be using these times to pray for more of God’s kingdom.  If you can’t join us then, how about setting an alarm on your phone as a reminder to pray each day – maybe simply by saying the Lord’s Prayer at noon each day.  However you go about it please do join in with the great wave of prayer taking place in our country this week.

ESOL Alpha has been running on Wednesday evenings at church with a group of 6-8 guests of Chinese origin.  Caroline Newbold asks that we pray specifically for them and for their leaders this Saturday(14th) when they have their Holy Spirit Day at Haven Green Church.

This coming Sunday (15th) is Pentecost – the day when we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit.  At both the 9am and 10.30am services we will have a time of waiting upon God to receive the Spirit afresh – do come expectantly as we seek Him together.

Although there's no Community Fete this year  we are running a number of other smaller outreach activities - please get involved.  One opportunity to volunteer is for the planned holiday club 'Mega Makers' running every morning from Tuesday 30th August to Friday 2nd  September.  Lots of help is needed - you don't have to work with the children, there are all sorts of different roles and you don't have to be there every day.  Please contact Caroline Newbold to volunteer.

Have a great week.

With my love and prayers

Steve
