Curate's update 17th May
Dear St. Stephen's,
As Steve is away this week with the Willesden Area staff, it falls to me to put fingers to keyboard for this weeks update.
I hope you were encouraged as Steve and I were by yesterday's Pentecost celebrations. It was wonderful to see so many people being open to the work of the Spirit and asking God for more of his presence in our lives. It was a good reminder to me of how gathering together to worship on a Sunday is a time when God refuels and equips us for living out our faith the rest of the week, and even better, we can do this every week, not just on Pentecost Sunday.
There is plenty going on this week, and a few things I'd like to highlight are:
Christian Aid week - Please pray for all those involved in house to house collecting this week, for good conversations with people, and opportunities to speak of God's love.
Exams - Both GCSE and A-Level exam season begins in earnest thie week, please pray for our young people over the next 7 weeks as they prepare, revise and take thier exams.
Women's Breakfast - Saturday 21st May at 9am. Our speakers are our very own Sophie Johnson and Teresa Morrish-Griffin, who will be talking on ‘In the Lion’s Den – facing life’s challenges with God’. If you haven't signed up yet please do come along on Saturday, donations on the day to cover the cost of breakfast.
New People - have you noticed the number of new faces we see at church week on week? Rarely a Sunday goes by when we don't have visitors and new people coming along to St Stephen's. If you spot new folks please do say hello and have a chat, that way we can make sure everyone who is new gets a warm St Stephen's family welcome.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday when our teaching looks at what does it mean when we talk about God as trinity,
