Vicar's update 4th October         Steve4to5-3244373775-O

Thank you to all who supported events over our Harvest Weekend.  The youth group run Murder Mystery on Saturday was a great success with over £800 being raised for Tearfund.  On Sunday we had two great services and you were very generous with gifts for the Foodbank.  Lots of food was given and £450 (plus gift aid) was donated.  Thank You.

On Sunday we also launched Eco Church – if you didn’t collect a leaflet there are more in Church.  Over the coming months we will be working towards an Eco Church award but more importantly we are aiming to affect our church life and our individual lives so that our lifestyles are ones which support rather than damage the wonderful creation that God has entrusted us with.

Alpha starts this evening – whether you are involved or not please do pray for those who are taking part – that lives will be changed and that people will make commitments to Christ. It is a big step to come on your own, if you know someone who might be interested why not come with them?

Our monthly Prayer Meeting is on Wednesdays during Alpha – the next one is tomorrow (5th October), 8pm – 9pm. We always worship, pray and listen to God;come along if you can.

Over the coming few weeks we will be thinking about our individual finances and how we respond to God’s work at St Stephen’s. As well as Sunday teaching, do look out for the information pack coming your way soon.

On Saturday 15th October we are having a big clean-up of the church and centre; hundreds of people pass through each week and it needs some attention now and again!  If a good number of us could give up just one hour each between 10.30am and 2pm we’d get so much done - there are both simple and more complicated jobs so please do consider helping to keep the building we all use in good condition.

Wishing you a good week.

Steve
