Vicar's update 17th October
On Sunday we had the second of our sermons on Giving to God. If you missed it, or wish to listen again just click here. I realise that these are challenging messages but please take this opportunity to prayerfully consider your financial response to God in this place and return your individual pledge by13th November.
This coming Sunday we begin a new sermon series looking at the book of Ruth. It’s a great book with some strong messages and I look forward to exploring this over the coming four weeks.
On Saturday (22nd October) at 7.30pm, The Grove Missional Community will hold the launch service in the Gurnell Community Centre – a number of us are planning to go and it would be great to have a good turnout from St Stephen's to support this new inititaive in our parish.
Our children’s Light Party is coming up on Monday 31st October 5.30pm – 7.30pm. Please do bring your children along rather than allow them to participate in other 'halloween' activities which celebrate darkness rather than light. The party is always great fun and a good alternative to the nasty side of this evening. If you dread the annual visit of so called 'trick or treaters' the local Police have produced a poster that you may like to print off and put on your door on 31st October - copy attached and copies will be available in Church too.
Can you sing – we still need more singers for our Carol Service choir - details from James Harvey (email@example.com).
