Vicar's update 12th December
If you were in Church yesterday you will have heard the news that Andrew Dand has been appointed as the new Rector designate of St Mary’s Hanwell. He will leave us sometime after Easter 2017 and will be licensed on 7th June – more about all this in the New Year.
Sadly, Robert Alwyne (husband of Ann Turk) died on Thursday after a long illness, his funeral is likely to be held after Christmas. The funeral of Celia Aldridge who died earlier in the week will be held at St Stephen’s on Wednesday 21st December at 2pm – all are invited to attend.
Our Christmas Services start this coming Sunday –please note the details on the website. Please note that there is NO 9am service for the next 3 Sundays as we have Whole Church Services at 10.30am – back to normal on 8th January. The main event this weekend is our Carol Services at 4.30pm and 6.30pm. Each lasts for about an hour and followed by mulled wine and mince pies do come and invite friends, neighbours and family to join you.
On New Year's Eve we are having something new - a reflectiveWatchnight Service to see in the New Year. As we've not done this before, for organistation and catering purposes it would be really helpful to know if you are thinking about coming. Please do contact Rosemary Beardow (RBeardow@aol.com) to let her know or simply to find out more.
Many of you are planning to take part in our Bible Challenge as part of the 150th celebrations. If you are thinking of using the HTB app can you let me know and we can put you in touch with others doing the same thing.
Wishing you a good week.
