Vicar's update 21st AugSteve Newbold 2017 web2

Our Holiday Club got off to a great start today.  We have about 40 children booked in and it’s proving good fun.  Please do continue to pray for us all, especially for the children that they would encounter Jesus during the week.  Next Sunday (3rd) our All Age Service will have a Holiday Club theme and we have invited children and their families from the Club – do come along and join in the fun. At the service we will also be praying for those who are starting or moving schools.

On Sunday we are also holding a Church Picnic from 12 – 2pm in Cleveland Park – a great way to get back together after the summer holidays.  Just bring something to sit on and your food, there will be games for the young/young in heart amongst us.  Later, at 6.30pm Open to God returns.  This term we will be looking at some Psalms as they help us in our walk with God.

I was delighted on Sunday to announce that next year we will be joined by Sam, Rachael and Hannah-Joy Sanya as Sam comes to be our new curate.  Sam still has another year of studies in Oxford before his ordination next July but do pray for them all as they prepare to join us.  Sam is very excited!

Last week’s interviews for our new Youth Worker went well and I will be making an announcement about this on Sunday (3rd).

We are still seeking accommodation for a young female Intern for 10months from September who will work both at St Stephen’s and with The Grove missional community. Might there be someone in our church who has a room that they could offer? St Stephen’s will pay for this – do let me know if you might be in a position to help.

Don’t forget Alpha which starts on 20th September – there are lots of Invitation cards to give out to your family, friend’s and neighbours.  Why not offer to come with them?

Have a good week.
