Vicar's update 18th SeptemberSteve Newbold 2017 web2

It was great to welcome Izzy Cole our new Intern at our morning services yesterday.  Izzy will be helping out with our youth work, Alpha and other areas of Church life as well as spending half of her week working on the Gurnell Estate.  Izzy is new to London and so we want to give her a warm welcome.  Perhaps you might consider inviting her to your home for a meal or coffee.

Alpha begins on Wednesday (20th).  We are looking forward to a great start but it’s not too late to come along or invite a friend.  It’s an 8pm start with homemade cake and coffee/tea.

Next Sunday (24th) is the Ealing Half Marathon and many roads are closed during the morning.  We won’t be having our usual morning services but instead are running a Water Station and Community Café outside St Stephen's.  If you live locally do walk up and join us as we cheer the runners and share hospitality with our neighbours.

Our only act of worship will be later in the day at 4.30pm.  This will take the form of Café Church (an informal Communion Service around tables with lots of tea and cake) with children’s activities in the Centre.  We still need a few more cakes for the afternoon - let the office know if you can provide something.

The following Sunday - 1st October - is Harvest Sunday.  We will have harvest themed services at 9am, 10.30am and 6.30pm and would welcome cash and food donations for the Ealing Foodbank – no fresh produce please

Finally, some sad news.  We heard last night of the death of Stuart Windsor from Christian Solidarity Worldwide (one of our mission partners). The cause of death is yet to be determined but he had recently had an angioplasty after suffering a serious heart attack in July. Stuart had been a good friend to St Stephen’s and came to preach on a couple of occasions.  Our love and prayers go out to his family.

Have a good week

Steve
