Vicar's update 9th JulySteve Newbold 2017 web2

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped in any way with yesterday’s Community Fete.  It was extremely hard work with temperatures approaching 32degrees but so many were involved and gave so much – thank you.  I do hope that everyone finds time to rest and relax in the coming days.  A special thanks to Jane Maffett and Izzy Cole who organised and managed us all – we really appreciate your hard work and brilliant organisational skills.  If you helped or came along we would like your feedback so do let us know your thoughts by completing a simple survey (click here).

At long last the contractors have moved onto the Church site and the building work starts today– this week hoardings and temporary toilets will be put in place and then the work proper can begin.  By the end of November we will have new toilets and a meeting room at the back of the church.

On Saturday (14th) we are holding another Quiet Morning at Church from 10am -12.30pm.  There will be some simple prayer stations available to use if you wish.  The theme is ‘Be Still and know that I am God’ and you can drop in at any time to spend some quiet time and get away from the busyness of your usual routine.

Next Sunday (15th) we look forward to our new curate Sam Sanya preaching to us for the first time at both 9am and 10.30am.  Children and youth groups will be available as usual at the 10.30am service so do come as a family.

Finally, it will not have escaped your notice that England are just one game away from a place in the World Cup Final.  Should they win their mid-week semi-final we plan to screen the Final on the large screens in church next Sunday afternoon.  Bear this in mind and if all goes to plan, come and join the party – more about this later in the week.

Have a good week.

Steve
