Vicar's update 3rd SeptemberSteve Newbold 2017 web2

We thought yesterday about how we get going again after the summer break.  Part of the challenge was to commit to prayer – why not join us tomorrow evening (Tuesday 4th ) for our monthly Prayer Meeting 8pm-9pm?
Alpha begins on Thursday 27th September.  A number have already signed up and if you are thinking of coming or bringing a guest, please do let us know asap.
This coming Sunday (9th) Sam Sanya will be talking at 9am and 10.30am about ‘finding your fit’ helping us to see how we can find our place in the life of this church.  Our children and youth groups also return after the summer break.  In the evening Open to God returns at 6.30pm with a special focus on healing and the opportunity to be anointed with oil.
Can I encourage you to check the pigeon holes outside the church office?  Along with other items, they contain letters to members of the congregation regarding donations for which our Giving Coordinators have claimed gift aid in the tax year 2017/18.   On the subject of giving, we have a bit of a problem as some of the pledges made last autumn haven’t been realised and as a result we are facing a potential deficit.  If you made a pledge, can you please ensure that it is being given as you had intended? If you haven’t yet made a financial commitment to this church or would like to review yours please do speak to me or to our Giving Coordinators.
Finally, we are introducing a new song this month based on Psalm 23 - You restore my soul.  We sang it for the first time yesterday and you can listen again here – enjoy it.

Have a good week.
