Vicar's update 25th November
Thank you to those who organised the Tearfund Big Quiz on Saturday evening. It was a great evening and good to join with hundreds of other churches all doing the same thing whilst raising money for a brilliant cause. At St Stephen’s we raised over £750 (plus some further gift aided donations) which will be used to help those in the developing world who are in the most need. Thank you.
You can help raise money to help those nearer to home by supporting our Christmas Bazaar on Saturday (24th). It’s not a traditional church bazaar because the money does not go to St Stephen’s but to charity, this year Ealing Christians against Poverty (CAP) one of our mission partners. It’s not too late to offer to help – just contact Sue Charlton. Even if you can’t do that please make sure you drop in and do spread the word and encourage family, friends and neighbours to support it on the day, it’s always a lot of fun with plenty of bargains to be had and some great activities for the children. On Sunday (25th) we will be joined by Azniv Pambakian, the Ealing CAP Centre Manager at the 9 and 10.30 and she will share something of her work and how the money that we raise is used in Ealing.
We heard some challenging stories about Christians under immense pressure in other parts of the world on Sunday when Dave Mance from Christian Solidarity Worldwide came to speak at 9 and 10.30. He encouraged us to take action, pray, send encouragement and give. Let’s not forget about our persecuted brothers and sisters and take for granted the freedoms we enjoy in the UK. See csw.org.uk for more information.
On Wednesday 28 November, we will be setting up a prayer space focussing around the young people and youth work at St Stephen’s. Whether you are able to join us for 10 minutes or an hour, please do drop into the church any time between 5.00pm and 8.00pm to pray. We will also open the space for an hour after Daytimers earlier that day.
Have a good week.
