Vicar's update 23rd JulySteve Newbold1 Small

This weekend a good number of us will be going to New Wine.  Peterborough is only just over 1½ hours away and we’d love to welcome visitors for a day.   St Stephen’s eat lunch together every day at 1pm and, if you come you are welcome to join us but do let me know in advance so that we can cater for you.  Sunday, Monday, Wednesday or Thursday are the best days to come and if you can arrive in good time for the morning meetings which start at 9.15am.  Day tickets are available on the New Wine website here.
This Sunday, whilst we are at New Wine, our former curate Andrew Dand will be preaching at St Stephen’s as we begin a summer series looking at some of the miracles of Jesus - this week it’s Jesus turning water into wine.  There will also be a separate children’s group lead by Martyn Verity and others.
Thanks to those who have recently volunteered to help – we still need a few more team members for
Sound & Vision team – You don’t need any previous experience as training will be provided - one shift per month. Speak to or email
Serving team – We need new members for this team at both 9am & 10:30am services. Full training will be given. Speak to me or email
Church Preparation team – One or two people set out the hall with tables and chairs on a Saturday afternoon.  Are you able to help once a month – speak to one of the ChurchWardens?
How about some light relief during these difficult days for our country?  You are invited to join the new St Stephen’s Fantasy Football league here. This year we are restricting it to members of the church and their families because it’s most fun to play against people you know and see regularly.    To join, go to the website, choose Private Classic Leagues, search for St Stephen’s Ealing and then enter code brtqqa.  Deadline is Friday 9th August at 19.00.  If you haven’t played before just read the rules, pick a team and you will soon get the hang of it - you don’t need to know a lot about football to play!  Any questions to Caroline Newbold who is this year’s League Administrator.
If you are going on holiday, I hope you have a good time – for those still in London enjoy this week’s heat!
