Vicar's update 2nd SeptemberSteve Newbold1

We had a great Holiday Club last week and were pleased to welcome a number of children and their families back to our All Age Worship yesterday.  During the Club a number of children responded to the invitation to become friends of Jesus – do pray that they would grow in their walk with Him.
It’s a new season and I am delighted to be able to let you know about some changes in the team here:

  • We have appointed a new Intern to start with us this month.  Katy Shier is going to be taking part in the New Wine Discipleship Year and will be able to will help us with our youth work, Alpha and many other areas of church life.  Part of her time will also be spent with The Grove Missional Community.  Katy is moving up from the New Forest and will be living with Noreen and Peter Barnes-Hoggett.  She doesn’t know anyone in this area so do feel free to invite her round for a meal and help her get to know you.  She will be with us for the first time on Sunday 15th September.
  • Our new Worship Pastor, Jo Leeds, who I wrote about in a previous letter, will be starting with us on Sunday 13th October. Tomorrow (Tuesday) at 8pm we have our monthly prayer and praise meeting– do come if you can.

This coming Sunday (8th September) we will be celebrating God’s creation with a special Green Communion at 9am.  At 10.30am we will be commissioning our children and youth leaders for another year.
We have planned some prayer ministry training for those not currently involved as part of the Ministry Team on Wednesday 11th September at 8pm.  If you might like to come along to find out what prayer ministry is all about do let me know asap.
If this week involves a return to work or school, I hope and pray that all goes well.
