Vicar's update 9th SeptemberSteve Newbold1

It was great to see so many people back at church yesterday after the summer holidays.  Church life steps up a gear now as our mid-week groups and activities restart and we launch Alpha at the end of the month.
At our services yesterday we thought about God’s plan for his creation, our responsibility as Christians and how we might change some of the ways in which we live.   Caroline Newbold writes: ‘Hearing the talk on Green Sunday and our prayers afterwards inspired me to take part in a challenge I’ve heard about not to buy any new clothes for a year (except underwear!) - instead buying second hand or just making use of what we already have.  Two people have already said that they will join me but it would be great if others did too.  Please email me on and we can link up to encourage one another and decide on our starting date.’
Our Bishop will be joining us on Sunday 17th November for a Baptism and Confirmation Service.  If you haven’t been baptised or confirmed or simply want to know more about what it involves, do speak to me as soon as possible.
Our annual Christmas Fair (note the revised name) is on Saturday 30th November – there will be lots of information about this soon but do keep the date free.
Next month, we will again be taking a small group of young people to the Glass Door Sleep Out  in London (click here for more details). They will be sleeping outdoors; experiencing, for just one night, what it is like to live as a homeless person. Our young people need a lot of cardboard to ensure that they do not need to sleep on the cold floor, and blankets to help keep them warm (which can be donated to Glass Door after the event).  If you can help with either, please do drop them into church over the next three weeks.  Contact for more information.

Have a good week.
