Vicar's update 16th SeptemberSteve Newbold1

Yesterday we welcomed our new intern Katy Shier to St Stephen’s.  Katy will be with us until next summer helping with our youth work, Alpha, mission on The Grove and lots more!  She will also be part of a larger group of local interns who meet for training each Tuesday as part of the New Wine Discipleship Year scheme.  Please do welcome Katy – perhaps invite her round to meet your family.

This coming Sunday (22nd) Andrew Mcleay (Macca) will be speaking to us at 9am and 10.30am about the work of one of our local mission partners – the Ealing Soup Kitchen.  A good number of us are actively involved in supporting the Soup Kitchen and it will be great to hear more about the important work they do.

The following weekend we are hosting a Craft Fair on Saturday 28th September.  Stall holders pay a fee and this money will be used to help fund our community fete next year so please drop in at some point and show your support, there are free activities for children. We still need help with moving furniture, making cakes and serving refreshments.  If you can help please contact Jane Maffett.

The Ealing Half Marathon is on Sunday 29th September and local roads will be closed from about 9am.  We are again running a free Community Café and hosting the UFO Steel Band.  There is only one service that day – Café Church at 4.30pm.  This is a different form of service to what we normally do and includes tea and cake, sung worship, teaching and Holy Communion.  There will also be separate children’s groups.

Our Bishop will be joining us on Sunday 17th November for a service of Baptism and Confirmation.  If you haven’t been baptised or confirmed or simply want to know more about what it involves, do speak to me as soon as possible.

Have a good week.

Steve
