Vicar's update 14th OctoberSteve Newbold1

It was good yesterday to welcome Jo and David Leeds.  Jo has now started work as our new Worship Pastor and we are looking forward to getting to know both her and David.  Jo can be contacted by email joanna@ststephens-ealing.org.

Yesterday we also started our teaching series on Giving and you can listen here to Sam’s talk on Why we give and Who we give to.  Next Sunday I will be speaking about How to Give and there will be letters and response cards available for us all.  This is an important time in the life of our church as we commit to what God wants of us in 2020 so please do be thinking and praying about your own response.

Last week I asked if a few people (parents whose children go to Cool Christians would be ideal) might help us pack away tables and chairs in the hall on a Sunday morning after the 10.30am service.   It doesn’t take long and if we could get a few new folk to help it would be just once a month.  As yet no one has offered so please do consider helping out as it would really ease the pressure on our busy duty wardens – just let me know.

Each year we hold a special Memorial Service to remember loved ones who have died and this year it is on Sunday 27th Oct at 3.30pm.  All are welcome to attend and if you are coming and would like to remember someone, please write their names down on the list at Church. (Because of time restraints we only read names connected with those who are present at the service.)

The Ealing Half Marathon have advised us that you can now book a place as a volunteer to help staff the St Stephen’s Water Station in September 2020.  Apparently the St Peter’s Water Station has already filled up with volunteers so if you want to get involved do so now https://www.ealinghalfmarathon.com/volunteer/

Twelve members of St Stephen's have now committed to taking part in the Clothes Challenge – a pledge not to buy any new clothes for one year.  It’s not too late to join in, contact Caroline Newbold.  More details in the monthly bulletin.

Have a great week

Steve
