Vicar's update 2nd December
I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped with our Christmas Fair. Together we raised over £4,200 all of which will be donated to the work of the Ealing Foodbank – supporting local families in need. I know that many people helped with making items, set up, serving on the day, clearing up afterwards and removing unsold items – you are all much appreciated. An event like this doesn’t just happen so I want add particular thanks to Sue Charlton who organised us all and has been working quietly behind the scenes for many months to ensure it all ran smoothly – thank you Sue.
There are a number of important events taking place this week:
Tomorrow (Tues 3rd Dec) at 8pm we have our monthly First Tuesday Prayers as we come before God in prayer and praise to seek his will for our Church.
As the General Election approaches there are some local Hustings to which we are invited.
For those in the Ealing Central and Acton Constituency tonight at 7.30pm at St John’s Church, Mattock Lane, Ealing
For those in the Ealing North Constituency tomorrow at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church, The Fairway, Northolt.
As Christmas approaches it is good to slow down and enjoy the peace of Advent. Some events that might help include:
Advent Quiet Morning at St Stephen’s on Saturday (7th Dec) 10.30am – 12.30pm
Advent Evening Service at St Stephen’s on Sunday (8th Dec) at 6.30pm.
On Sunday (8th Dec) there is also a special Advent Evensong at St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane in Ealing with the Bishop of London.
Thank you to everyone who has pledged to start or increase their giving to St Stephen
s. Your generousity has enabled us to plan for a balanced budget in 2020. Please take whatever action is necessary to start or amend Standing Orders with your bank so that the new giving can start at the beginning of January 2020. Many thanks.
Our Carol Services are just a couple of weeks away – a personal invitation to friends and family really makes a difference so please do start to invite people. This year there are three to choose from, 4.30pm and 6.30pm on Sunday 15th Dec plus this year, Contemporary Carols for all ages on 10.30am on Sunday 22nd December.
Finally, we will be decorating our large Christmas tree in church at 10am next Monday (9th Dec). If you are around and would like to be involved please let me know as we could do with a bit more help.
Have a good week.
