Vicar's update 9th DecemberSteve Newbold1

Thank you to everyone who contributed to a Hamper for our Christians against Poverty clients.  It was so encouraging to see them in church yesterday and to know that this week they will be delivered to help families struggling this Christmas. Thank you all.

Our Advent sermon series is well under way and you can find the talks on Waiting and Longing here .  On Sunday morning (15th) Enid Barron will be speaking about Believing in Jesus.

In addition to our usual morning services, our traditional Carol Services take place on Sunday (15th) at 4.30pm and 6.30pm.  The choir have been working hard, there will be a brass ensemble and lots of familiar carols to sing. The services are suitable for people of all ages (probably not toddlers though) so do come and bring family and friends to either service.

We know that many people respond to a personal invitation. We have lots of invitations for our Christmas services that you can use to pass on to friends and neighbours – take as many as you like.  We also have packs of invitations to deliver to local streets – please pop into church to collect a pack or two to get the word out.

At all of our Christmas services there will be an opportunity to give to our special collection for the work of Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter and Tearfund.  You can give by cash, cheque or by card so come prepared to give to these important causes which help those who are homeless both in Ealing and overseas.

Some of you have been asking about our Intern Katy Shier.  Unfortunately she became unwell a few weeks ago and had to return home to her family.  She has since decided not to return as she wants to get further help with her medical situation.  We are really sorry to see Katy leave but grateful for all that she did whilst she was with us.

Have a good week and whoever you choose, do remember to vote on Thursday

Steve
