Vicar's update 18th DecemberSteve Newbold1

We had two beautiful Carol Services on Sunday and it was good to welcome so many visitors - if you didn’t come you missed a treat!  I am grateful to everyone who played a part by decorating the church, singing, reading, helping with welcome and hospitality, moving furniture, tidying up and so many other things.  Particular thanks go to James Harvey who planned the evening and worked so hard with the choir and brass band to provide a wonderful evening.

This year we will be having a new Contemporary Carol Service on Sunday (22nd) at 10.30am.  Cool Christians and the Youth Group will be taking part  and there will be a good mix of traditional carols and songs all led by our band.  Dig out your Christmas jumper or a Santa hat and come along.

Christmas proper begins on Christmas Eve with our 4.30pm service of Carols, Nativity and Christingles.  Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite nativity character and will have a role in the service.  If you’re not coming as a nativity character do wear your Christmas jumper!  This is usually the biggest service of the year so arrive early if you want a seat and please welcome those you don’t know.

Also on Christmas Eve Midnight Communion is at 11pm and will finish just after midnight.  This is a lovely way to welcome in Christmas Day itself with traditional carols and liturgy.

On Christmas Day we have just one service for all the family at 10.30am.  This is one of my favourite services of the year and always great fun.  Do come if you can and bring a new present that can be shown to us all. I assure you that the service will only last an hour so there will be lots of time to go home and enjoy the rest of the day.

At all of our Christmas Services there is the opportunity to give to our special Christmas Collection which will be divided between the work of the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter and Tearfund, the Christian Relief & Development organisation.  You can give by cash, cheque or card – come ready to give.

Looking ahead, on 31st December we are holding a New Year’s Eve Party in the Church Centre and you are all invited. Dust off your dancing shoes and dress up your specs (it's going to be 2020!).  The party starts at 9.30pm and will finish at 12.30am.  Bring a bottle(s) and a plate of finger food...and your family and friends.   Any queries phone Caroline Jamieson on 02088401971.

Have a great week.

Steve
