Vicar's update 19th OctoberSteve Newbold1

I hope you are well and coping with the changing landscape of Coronavirus restrictions.  As you know the Government have now introduced a three tier system and London has been moved to Tier 2 which restricts interactions between households.  All three tiers allow for places of worship to remain open with Covid compliant measures in place so we are able to continue with our Sunday services. Details about the actions St Stephen’s are taking to keep everyone safe are on our website

Yesterday we had another great morning of gathered services and online worship and it was encouraging to see so many of you at church.  If you missed the 11am livestream it is available here.   A reminder that you need to book each week for both the 9am and 11am services and also our Children’s group, via our website

This evening we are holding our delayed Annual Church Meeting.  The joining details were emailed round last Wednesday but are repeated here for ease of reference.  All the relevant papers are available to download from the website and we look forward to seeing you for a prompt start at 8pm.

Sadly, this year we cannot hold our annual Christmas Fair in the usual way.  Instead we have set up an online Christmas Shop where you can purchase festive items such as homemade jams, chutneys, cakes, puddings and soap - details are on our website here.  Thank you to Sue Charlton and Jane Maffett for their hard work in setting this up.

On Saturday 31st October we are holding a Light Party (an alternative to Halloween).  This will be rather different to the usual gathered event at Church and instead will comprise of a Covid compliant trail undertaken outside, just in your family group.  More details to follow soon.

Our Christmas services and events will also look very different this year as we cannot hold the large scale services and events that have become so much a part of our life together.  Instead, we have some exciting plans for a mix of gathered and online services .  More details to follow.

I hope to see you later for our AGM.

Steve
