Vicar's update 9th NovemberSteve Newbold1

I hope you are well have had a good weekend.

Caroline and I continue to thank you for your prayers and good wishes.  We are both feeling much better and our isolation is coming to an end.  Just as we have appreciated your prayers, if for any reason you would like us to pray for you please either email me direct or use the Prayer Request page on our website here.  Your request will be treated as confidential.

As you know we have now entered a fresh period of lockdown and Christian leaders are urging us all to use this month to call out to God in prayer.  Our Archbishops and Bishops have called us all to stop for a moment of prayer at 6pm each day.  In addition they are encouraging us to pray every Thursday in November perhaps by fasting at lunchtimes and joining in with the live lunchtimes prayers on this Diocesan page.  The Evangelical Alliance have also asked all Christians to come together for a day of prayer this Friday (13th November).  Whatever you do – please do pray that God will stop the spread of the virus and restore hope in our communities.

As we are not now permitted to hold services at church our service pattern for the rest of November will be:

Sunday's
9am – 10am    Church open for Private Prayer only (no gathered services)
11am                Livestream Service via our website and You Tube

Midweek
Morning Prayer on both Tuesday and Thursday at 9am on Zoom
Midweek Communion on Wednesday at 11am on Zoom– bring your own bread and wine.
(Let me know if you want the code for any of these services)

Our former curate Steve Morris has been busy during lockdown writing some new books:

1.      The Journey Home: 40 Days of Thoughts, Prayers and Encouragement from the Celts
2.      Front line Advent: Daily Thoughts, Prayers and Encouragement for Advent
3.      The Divine Spark: Why Celtic wisdom can refresh the church today.

If you are interested in buying any of these, maybe as a Christmas gift, please contact Steve Morris direct on steve_stcuthberts@hotmail.com.

Our virtual Tearfund Big Quiz Night takes place on Saturday (14th November) starting sharp at 8pm.  You are welcome to join in by yourself or with others (maybe your Connect Group using whatsapp / texts / phones to discuss your answers).  This is a major fundraiser for Tearfund so we will be asking for donations to support their excellent work.

I hope you have a good week.

Steve
