Vicar's update 9th NovemberSteve Newbold1

On Saturday we enjoyed a wonderful Alpha Holy Spirit Day when God met powerfully with all of our guests.  Please do pray for us all as we continue with Alpha on Thursday evening.

On Saturday evening, along with 478 other churches, a good number of us took part in the Tearfund Big Quiz Night.  We raised over £960 and if you took part and haven’t yet donated, or would just like to donate to Tearfund to get us to over £1,000 you can do so here.

Our Sunday morning 11am Livestream service focused on the persecuted church and if you missed it you can catch up here.
We are continuing to join with our Archbishops and Bishops in prayer every Thursday throughout November by stopping for a moment of prayer at 6pm or perhaps by fasting at lunchtimes and joining in with the live lunchtimes prayers on this Diocesan page.

Thank you to all who supported the Christmas Fair Online Shop in recent weeks.  Together we've raised £1,165 for the work of our mission partner Amos Trust.  Just one final offer - a friend of St Stephen's has made a large Christmas Cake which we are offering in a Silent Auction.   Look here for a full description and entry form.  The highest bid by next Sunday 22nd November will get the cake.
Connect Groups are busy putting together Christmas hampers for households that the Grove Community are working with on the Gurnell Grove Estate.  If you are not in a Connect group but would like to contribute some items to encourage families who have had a particularly tough time this year, please contact Caroline Newbold who will be pleased to hear from you.
Our service pattern for the rest of November will be:

9am – 10am   Church open for Private Prayer only (no gathered services)
11am                Livestream Service via our website and You Tube (this coming week marking Climate Sunday)
Morning Prayer on both Tuesday and Thursday at 9am on Zoom
Midweek Communion on Wednesday 11am on Zoom– bring your own bread and wine.
(Let me know if you want the code for any of these services)
Have a good week
