Weekly Update - winter

St Stephen's Hub
The book of Acts describes how the early church community shared possessions and cared for each other in practical ways and this is an inspiration for us today.  In the current situation it is a challenge to do this, so we are relaunching a closed Facebook group for church members called the St Stephen's Hub - please ask to join.   If you have something you need to borrow or could lend, if you have a prayer request, some information it might be good to know or a question others could have the answer to, try The St Stephen's Hub.  Morgen Edwards & Caroline Newbold are admins.

Christmas Hampers
Connect Groups are busy putting together Christmas hampers for households that the Grove Community are working with on the Gurnell Grove Estate.  If you are not in a Connect group but would like to contribute some items to encourage families who have had a particularly tough time this year, please contact Caroline Newbold caroline@ststephens-ealing.org who will be pleased to hear from you.

Traidcraft Stall
We hope and pray we'll be able to meet again in church on 6th December - albeit in COVID safe and in a restricted way. If so, we'll run the Traidcraft stall, offering Christmas Cards and other goods. Do come and browse.

CSW - Supporting Christians Persecuted for their Faith
Many will have seen the powerful service from St. Stephen's on Sunday 15th November, when we prayed for so many people across the world who are persecuted for being followers of Jesus. A practical and much welcomed way to show love is to send a card. We have Christmas cards and names of people imprisoned or who's churches have been destroyed, with advice on what to say and where to address mail in a safe way via CSW. Do join us in writing a message of hope to a family in China, Nigeria, Cuba or India who is suffering fear and loneliness right now. Contact Sue Charlton on 020 8997 8236 for information.
Church Garden
The Garden Team has redesigned our small garden at the back of the building. Do take a look next time you pass or are at Church. We'd love more of you to be involved, not just to do some of the harder work in clearing leaves, but also in planting, tending and encouraging wildlife too. It would be good to have people of all ages to add ideas in what we can do, to make this a place for quiet thought and creative expression. Contact Sue Charlton 020 8997 8236 if you like to join us.
Prayer for the Week
God the Father,
help us to hear the call of Christ the King
and to follow in his service,
whose kingdom has no end;
for he reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, one glory
