Vicar's update 5th October
I hope you are well have had a good weekend. Yesterday we marked Climate Sunday and thought about our responsibility as Christians to care for the world around us – if you missed our Livestream yesterday it is available to catch up with on You Tube, join via our website.
This coming Sunday we will mark the beginning of Advent and as we are still not permitted to hold public worship our pattern will again be:
9am – 10am Church open for Private Prayer only (no gathered services)
11am Livestream Service via our website and You Tube
We hope that we will be able to return to ‘normal’ on Sunday 6th December in which case we will have services in Church at 9am and 11am – children and youth groups will be available at the 11am service. We will also have a Christmas Traidcraft Sale after both services.
As we look towards Christmas, there is a degree of uncertainty for us all but we do know that we will not be able to hold the big services and events that we are used to. We are seeking to create a more creative pattern of in person and online services and will let you know more next week.
One way of helping us to keep in touch and to support one another during this season is to join the St Stephen's Hub Facebook group. This is a closed group for church members only and can be used to ask for prayer, to share information or personal news, to offer to lend or ask to borrow something. Please make use of it.
These are challenging times and I know are proving hard for us all. I find it helpful to remind myself that however tough things may seem God is still in control and that Jesus reigns over all things. The words of yesterday’s special prayer might be helpful to you this week:
God the Father,
help us to hear the call of Christ the King
and to follow in his service,
whose kingdom has no end;
for he reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, one glory. Amen
Have a good week
