Weekly Update - winter

New Year - New Start
As we enter a new Lockdown why not consider joining one of our Connect Groups where you can meet with others online, read the Bible, share and pray together.  This is a time when we need the support of one another - details are on our website.
Christmas Collections
Over Christmas we have been collecting for the work of the Ealing Foodbank and Tearfund and well over £1600 was given – thank you to everyone who gave so generously.  The Foodbank still need our regular food donations which you can drop off in most supermarkets – details of current needs are attached.
Thought for the Day Magazine
Most of last years have now been put together in a printed booklet which is available at just £5 (to cover costs) and can be delivered locally.   As we are now restricted again this might be a great time to revisit some of the messages, or buy a copy for a friend. You can order a copy by clicking here.
Fun Lockdown Quiz
Friday 15th January 7.45 for 8pm. Joining details will be available the week before. Email Jane Maffett on events@ststephens-ealing.org if you’re not already on the mailing list.
Eco Tips
Do your clothes seem a little tight after the festive season? Thinking of cutting down on the calories? What about joining Veganuary? If going vegan (no meat, fish, dairy) is too big a step, how about dropping meat meals - or some at least? Evidence shows that the production of meat (beef in particular) contributes enormously to our carbon emissions not to mention the loss of forests to grow the grain needed to feed millions of cows - losing more of the carbon sinks that trees provide. Search the Traidcraft website for organic and Fairtrade goods at fair prices, dig out those tasty vegetarian recipes and know you're choosing good sustainable food to put on the table.
Prayer for the Week
Heavenly Father,
at the Jordan you revealed Jesus as your Son:
may we recognize him as our Lord
and know ourselves to be your beloved children;
through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
