Vicar's update 11th JanuarySteve Newbold1

You will probably have picked up that in view of the worsening situation of Coronavirus cases in London, the Church Council and I have decided to once again close St Stephen’s both for public worship and private prayer.  Many churches in London have taken a similar decision especially in light of the requests made by Civic leaders.  Fortunately we now have the ability to livestream each week and so a small team of volunteers will gather to bring us a service at 11am every Sunday – do join us via the website.

Other services such as Morning Prayer and Holy Communion continue to take place on Zoom – details are on the website.

From this Sunday (17th) JAM – our children’s groups for those of primary school age will be running again on Sunday mornings at 10am.  We realise that many children are busy on screens throughout the week so will keep this short, fun and interactive.  Joining instructions will be sent to parents later in the week – please do encourage your children to take part.  The Youth Group also meets as usual.

Ealing Residents can now get a free coronavirus test in Ealing, even if they do not have COVID-19 symptoms The tests are available at centres in Ealing and will provide people with results on the day.   The tests provides reassurance for anyone, particularly those who still need to go out for work away from their homes – cleaners, key workers, carers, taxi drivers, government employees, teachers, delivery drivers, etc – who need a quick result and a regular testing.

On Friday (15th) at 7.45 for 8pm we have a fun Quiz Night on Zoom.  All are welcome to take part individually or as part of a small team.  If you would like to join us please email events@ststephens-ealing.org.

The next People and Planet Gathering will be meeting on Zoom at 2pm on Sunday 24th January.  The theme is ‘creation care’ and thinking about a brand new way to look at how we can all care for the environment and work to reduce carbon emissions. Everyone is welcome – contact Sue Charlton or Enid Barron for details.

With my love and prayers

Steve
