Vicar's update 25th JanuarySteve Newbold1

I hope you enjoyed the weekend and were able to get out in the snow or keep warm indoors as you preferred!
On Sunday we continued our series looking at the ups and downs of life and asked how can we pray in difficult times.  If you missed our Livestreamed Service you can catch up here.
As the pandemic continues we have taken the decision to part furlough some members of staff.  For the time being Gordon Nunn our Centre Manager will only be working on Tuesday and Wednesday - please do not try to contact him on other days.  Beth Skelton our Youth Pastor will work one day less per week than usual as all of the youth work is being managed online.   This decision will help to manage church finances as we continue to face an uncertain future
It is good to hear how so many of our older members now been given the first dose of the vaccine.  However, with its continued roll out there are sadly those who are trying to exploit the situation.  The attached notice advises how you can spot those who may attempt to con you – do advise those who are older and more vulnerable so that they are not the unfortunate victims of fraud.
Christopher Ramsey (Vicar, St Georges Southall) is running a practical and spiritual workshop designed to help all those who have pivoted to working from home because of the pandemic.  It will help you right now, but also set you up for the hybrid working patterns many of us may have in the future.  The Zoom session is on Wednesday 10th February at 7.30pm - to book a place email
Might you be interested in joining an ecumenical Lent Group?   Five meetings will take place on Zoom on Tuesday mornings at 10.30am starting on February 23rd.  Contact Sue Male (minister of Pitshanger and Kingsdown Methodist Churches) for more information -
This week as well as our weekly Livestreamed service at 11am each Sunday we have :

  • Morning Prayer on Tuesday and Thursday at 9am
  • Holy Communion on Wednesday at 11am
  • JAM – Children’s Group on Sunday at 10am
  • Informal afternoon catch up – Sunday at 4.30pm If you need any of the Zoom passcodes, do contact me or one of the staff.

 With my love and prayers
