Vicar's update 22nd FebruarySteve Newbold1

I hope you have had a good weekend and managed to join us for worship on Sunday – whether at the children and youth groups or the 11am Livestream.

At our 11am livestream service we started a series looking at the book of Hebrews and there was also a powerful interview with Dr Kate Senger.  You can catch up or listen again here

During Lent there are some additional events and resources available.  Every Wednesday we hold an informal form of Stations of the Cross at 8pm (on Zoom) - this is a reflective service with space for quiet and meditation.  The Church website contains some resources that you may find helpful during this season and a simple daily activity that you can use can be found here.

Also during Lent we are supporting the Diocesan Lent Appeal 2021 Challenging Youth Violence. I am sure we are all shocked by the regular reports of knife crime in our city and the money raised will support the work of three charities working with young people who have been affected by violence, whether as a victim, perpetrator or witness to a violent attack. We are also donating Easter Eggs to the Marylebone Project for homeless women as we have done in past years.   See our website for more details about these appeals and click on the relevant link to donate.

I am sorry to tell you that Colin Vickery died on Sunday morning.   Despite poor health, Colin had fought against the odds for many years but in recent weeks he had weakened. He died peacefully and surrounded by his family who were so dear to him.  Please do pray for Kate and the family at this difficult time.

Amit Sehgal’s funeral will be held on Thursday (25th) at 1pm.  Obviously the number of those who can attend in person is limited by law, but Janet extends an invitation to any who would like to join online – do ask me for the joining details if you would like them.

This week we have as well as our weekly Sunday 11am Livestream service we have:

  • Morning Prayer on Tuesday and Thursday at 9am
  • Holy Communion on Wednesday at 11am
  • Stations of the Cross on Wednesday at 8pm
  • JAM – Children’s Groups on Sunday at 9.30am and 10am
  • Zoom at Noon – informal catch up from 11.45am each Sunday

All of these are on Zoom and if you want the passcodes, do contact me.

With my love and prayers

Steve
