Vicar's update 8th MarchSteve Newbold1

I hope you have had a good weekend and managed to join us for worship – whether at the children and youth groups, the 9am Communion or the 11am Livestream.

At our 11am livestream service we continued to look at the book of Hebrews. Caroline Newbold encouraged us to listen to and speak words of faith to see us through difficult times.  You can catch up here.  We also heard from Rachael and Sam Sanya who spoke about living through lockdown when your family live far away.

The Church Council have now agreed a plan to cautiously reopen the church for public worship.  This will broadly mirror the Government roadmap for the reopening of other areas of society and is dependent on the continued suppression of the virus.  It looks as follows:

    From Palm Sunday (28th March)
We will restart a weekly 9am in person Service and continue with 11am Livestream.

    Around May 17th
We will restart a congregation alongside the 11am Livestream and consider if we can now run in person children and youth groups.

After June 21st (or whenever all social distancing rules are removed)
We will continue with the pattern of 9am and 11am in person services and continue the 11am Livestream.
In addition, individual leaders will consider how and when to restart other activities meetings and gatherings.

    September
We will return to the usual times of 9am and 10.30am with Cafe, separate children’s groups and youth group.

As we return to in person services, spaces will be limited because of continuing social distancing requirements and you will need to pre-book a place in the week before as we were doing last autumn.

Our next online Quiz Night is on Friday (12th) – contact events@ststephens-ealing if you want to know more.

This week we have as well as our weekly Sunday 11am Livestream for Mothering Sunday we have:

  • Morning Prayer on Tuesday and Thursday at 9am
  • Holy Communion on Wednesday at 11am
  • Stations of the Cross on Wednesday at 8pm
  • Quiz Night on Friday at 8pm
  • JAM – Children’s Groups on Sunday at 9.30am and 10am
  • Zoom at Noon – informal catch up from 11.45am.

All of these are on Zoom and if you want the passcodes, do contact me.

This week our thoughts and prayers are with families as children return to school - we hope that all goes well and you all have a good week.

With my love and prayers

Steve
