Vicar's update 26th AprilSteve Newbold1

I hope you have had a good weekend.  On Sunday mornings, we have been looking at some of the resurrection accounts in the Gospels and yesterday Enid Barron spoke to us about Jesus coming among some of his followers on the road to Emmaus on that first Easter evening (Luke 24)  and the different ways he might appear to us today.  She was also interviewed about how God has used her as an elected member of the General Synod of the Church of England.  You can catch up on all of our Livestreamed services here.

Instead of our usual monthly Prayer Meeting on Tuesday 4th May we are joining with the HTB Leadership Conference.  This year it’s a free virtual event and a good number of us are planning to join in.  If you would also like to come along do sign up here

Our Church Electoral Roll is currently open for new people to join – if you are not a member and want to sign up you need to do so here by the end of this Wednesday (28th April).  This is in preparation for the Church Annual Meeting which will be held on Wednesday 26th May at 8pm.  At this Annual Meeting we will elect two Churchwardens (I am delighted that both Mary Ann Auckland and Caroline Jamieson are willing to stand for re-election), and 3 members to the Parochial Church Council.  Nominations for all roles will be open soon.

We started Alpha online last Thursday 22nd April but it’s not too late to join.  We had a number of guests with no connection to the church so please do be praying that God would meet with us all.  Further details from Sam Sanya (sam@ststephens-ealing.org).

We are about to open up the Members Area of the Church website and within the next week all those who are on the Electoral Roll will receive an email inviting you to sign up.  Once you have done so you will have easy access to Church Rotas, Zoom Codes (or other access arrangements) for meetings, the ability to manage your personal data, a customised App to use on your Smart Phone and in time an in-house Church Directory of contact details (of those who have given permission for these to be shared with others).  Please do look out for the mailing and respond when you receive it.

This coming week as well as our Sunday services (9am in Church and 11am Livestream) we have:

  • Morning Prayer on Tuesday and Thursday at 9am
  • Holy Communion on Wednesday at 11am
  • JAM – children’s groups Sunday at 9.30am and 10am.
  • Zoom at Noon – informal catch up from 11.45am

All of these are on Zoom and if you want the passcodes, do contact me direct.

Finally, do remember to book your seat for the 9am in person Communion – bookings close at 3pm each Thursday.

With my love and prayers

Steve
