Vicar's update 7th JuneSteve Newbold1

It was wonderful to be able to welcome back congregations at both morning services yesterday, for the first time this year.  We look forward to seeing more of you coming back to church in the coming weeks but whilst social distancing rules remain, places are limited and it is necessary to book a place via the church website.  As we now have more opportunities to mix and many are going away more, Zoom at Noon has come to a natural end – than you to all who facilitated it each week through the various lockdowns.

A reminder that for the time being JAM, our children groups, remain online and are at 9.30am and 10.00am.

We are continuing our series looking at the life of the early church through the book of Acts.  This is very timely as we reset our church life and gradually open more services and activities.  Yesterday I spoke from Acts 3:1-10 about the power that is available in the name of Jesus and through the Holy Spirit.  You can catch up here.

Following on from our church annual meeting, a new Church Prayer Diary has been prepared so that we can pray for each other – a copy is attached for your use.  Also, our newly elected Churchwardens (Caroline Jamieson and Mary Ann Auckland) will be commissioned by the Archdeacon at a special service on Wednesday evening – please do pray for them in their important role of leadership at St Stephen’s.

Thank you to all who contributed to Christian Aid Week, and especially to Sue Charlton who oversaw various events during the week.  I am delighted to say that together we raised over £4,000 which is enough to build or enlarge 4 dams for rural communities in Kenya.

This coming week we have:

  • Morning Prayer on Tuesday and Thursday at 9am
  • Holy Communion on Wednesday at 11am
  • Alpha on Thursday at 8pm

Sunday

  • Services - 9am and 11am in Church and 11am Livestreamed
  • JAM – children’s groups 9.30am and 10am.
  • Youth Music Jam at 4:30pm

If you need any Zoom passcodes you can find them on the St Stephen's App or do contact me direct.

With my love and prayers

Steve
