Vicar's Update

Monday 10th January 2022

It was good to see so many people back at our two morning services yesterday.  If you missed it we started a new sermon series looking at the big themes of the Bible and how they relate to our lives.   Caroline Newbold kicked us off with an introductory talk about why the Bible is so important and you can catch up again here. Next Sunday we look at what the Bible has to say about our origins and why we are here.
As we have mentioned Alpha begins online on Thursday 27th January at 7.45pm. Do you know someone who might be interested?  Please tell them about it.   Perhaps you have thought about doing Alpha but never got round to it, this might be a good opportunity.  Contact to register or for more information.
Next Sunday 16th January, we have an adult baptism at the 9am service and the dedication of Seth Leeds at 10:30.  It's always exciting to see new life in the church.
A number of church members have, or have recently had, Covid although it seems most have only mild symptoms.  Please do continue to pray for and support those who are ill.   This reminds us all of the importance of taking regular lateral flow tests especially before coming to church services or a church group.   Doing so will help identify cases and protect us all.  Although tests were hard to get over the Christmas period they seem to be more widely available again now .
We have had to cancel this week's Shining Stars because of sickness but hope to restart again in the coming weeks.

Thank you to all who give regularly to the work of St Stephen’s.  If you have reviewed your financial giving (or would now like to)  please do ensure that the Standing Order with your bank is up to date so that the church can receive what you have pledged – thank you.  You can always give via our website too.
Have a good week - keep well and keep testing!
