Vicar's Update

Monday 31st January 2022

Yesterday we remembered the account of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple and also gave thanks for Her Majesty the Queen on the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.  In our All Age Worship we thought especially about the importance of our church family being young and old together, you can catch up here.

Next Sunday we resume our sermon series looking at the big themes of the Bible and how they relate to our lives. I will be looking at Jesus, the Messiah who came to reveal God’s love to us all.

In the coming months we will have two important guests.  On Sunday 13th March, our Archdeacon Catherine Pickford will be coming to speak at both morning services.  Then, on Sunday 8th May our new Bishop Lusa will join us as he begins to get to know the area.

We are hoping that whilst Bishop Lusa is with us he will be able to confirm those who wish.  So if you are not yet confirmed but are baptised, a regular worshipper at St Stephen’s and now wish to make a public commitment to Jesus through Confirmation, please do speak to Caroline or myself as soon as possible.

We're also planning to have a full immersion Baptism service in the next few months.  If you have not taken the step of baptism and would like to do so or there are older children or young people in your family who are interested, again please speak to us.

Our Church Council meet tonight (Monday) to make important decisions about plans to redevelop the entrance area of our Church.  Please do pray for us all for wisdom and unity in our decision making.

Praying that you would know God's presence throughout this week.

Have a good week.
