Vicar's Update

Monday 14th February

I hope you are well and families and school staff on Half Term this week enjoy the break.

Yesterday we resumed our series on looking at the Big Themes of the Bible, this week:  Messiah & Love. We thought about how God has revealed his great love for us all in the life, death and resurrection of his son Jesus- you can catch up here.  Next Sunday we will be looking at the life of the early church as Caroline Newbold talks about Spirit and Community.   We will also be welcoming a speaker from Christian Solidarity Worldwide, one of our mission partners.

Although this is the half term week, the prayer life of the Church continues and you are welcome to join us on line or in person for Morning Prayer (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) or Holy Communion (Wednesday).  Details are on the church website.

A reminder of some special guests who will be coming to St Stephen’s this Spring.  On Sunday 13th March, we will be welcoming our Archdeacon Catherine Pickford and on Sunday 20th March, former member of St Stephen’s the Revd Urmila Kurkalang.  They will be speaking at both morning services. And then on Sunday 8th May our new Bishop Lusa will join us as he begins to get to know the area.

We are hoping that whilst Bishop Lusa is with us he will be able to confirm those who wish.  So, if you are not yet confirmed but are baptised, a regular worshipper at St Stephen’s and now wish to make a public commitment to Jesus through Confirmation, please do speak to Caroline or myself by the end of this month.

Have a good week.

Steve
