Vicar's Update

Monday 4th July 2022

What an amazing weekend! Celebrating with Urmila Kurkalang as she was ordained as a priest at St Peter’s Ealing on Friday evening and then with our new curate Ruth Robinson as she was ordained deacon at St Paul’s Cathedral on Saturday.  Finally, a full church for both services yesterday as Ruth, Mark, Oisín and Aoibheanna joined us for the first time.  It was good to gather afterwards for a welcome BBQ to celebrate Ruth’s arrival and to enjoy being together again.  Thank you to those who worked so hard on Sunday to prepare, cook, serve and clear up – you are all much appreciated.  Thanks especially to Jane Maffett for her skills in organising all the arrangements.

This week our monthly Prayer Meeting will be in Church on Wednesday (not Tuesday) 6th July at 8pm.

On Sunday 17th July we have a shared lunch for all church families with children aged 0-18. If that's you please do come along - there is a sign-up list in church.

Also that weekend, it will be St Stephen’s regular turn at the Ealing Soup Kitchen. Could you give up a couple of hours a few times a year to join the team serving a hot meal to homeless and vulnerable people?   Offers of help please to nrattray@hotmail.co.uk.

New Wine takes place later this month.  A few of us are going for some or all of a week but there is now the opportunity to join in online.  For just £40 a household you can gain access to the whole weeks’ sessions – details here.  Looking ahead, the Peterborough Showground have decided that from next year camping will not be allowed on the site which will require a major rethink of how New Wine takes place from 2023 – watch this space.

Finally, we will be holding a church picnic in Cleveland Park after the morning services on Sunday 11th September as we regather after the summer holidays - do mark the date in your diary.

Have a great week

Steve
