Vicar's Update

Tuesday 23rd August 2022

I hope you are doing well and are having a good summer.

I am sorry to let you know that George Hore died on Sunday evening. George was 94 and over the years had served in many leadership roles at St Stephen’s.  After a full and active life, George’s health had deteriorated in the past few years and he died peacefully in St David’s home.   Details of the funeral arrangements will be circulated when we have them.

Although we mourn George’s passing, we are also able to celebrate the arrival of the newest member of our church family, Arthur Tennyson Fitch, born to Corinne and Tom (and sister Amelia) on 9th August. Congratulations to you all.

Our final joint service of the summer will be held on Sunday (28th) at 10am.  It has been lovely to join together during these past few weeks but if you have missed any weeks you can catch up on the Livestream.  Sunday morning services will return to the usual 9am and 10.30am on Sunday 4th September.

Our next Alpha course begins at the end of September and will be in person at church on Wednesday evenings.  Please pray about who you could ask this time; a personal invitation makes all the difference.  Flyers are available at church to give away.   If you haven't done Alpha yourself why not consider it?  It's an excellent refresher course on basic Christianity and always enjoyed by those who take part.

As we regather next month we will be celebrating together with a bring your own picnic for everyone in Cleveland Park after the 10:30 service on 11th September – make a note of the date.

Have a great week.

Steve
