Vicar's Update

Tuesday 6th September 2022

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,  so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9-11)

It was good to re-gather on Sunday and return to our usual pattern of morning services.  We thought together about how we can get going again not just after the summer break but also after over 2 years of a global pandemic.  Paul’s prayer at the beginning of Philippians is a good place to start and I urge us all to pray this for one another over the coming weeks.

One way we can do this is to join our monthly Prayer Meeting at 8pm this evening at church.  We will have a particular focus on Alpha but as always also pray for other areas of church life.  Do join us if you can.  Another is to pray for each other using the church Prayer Diary – the latest version is here for you to print off and use at home.

Next Sunday as well as our 9am and 10.30am services we are having a Church Picnic in Cleveland Park.  This will be after the 10.30am service, probably starting around 12noon.  Just bring a picnic and join us for an hour or two.  As well as enjoying time to chat there will also be some organised games especially for the younger ones amongst us.

Also next Sunday we will be joined by Enoch Mwesigwa who will be spending a year at St Stephen's on the Diocesan Ministerial Experience Scheme.  Please make him welcome.

Alpha begins on 28th September and will be in person at church on Wednesday evenings.  Please pray about who you could ask this time; a personal invitation makes all the difference.  Flyers are available at church to give away.   If you haven't done Alpha yourself why not consider it?  It's an excellent refresher course on basic Christianity and always enjoyed by those who take part.

Do continue to pray about our vacant staff posts (Centre Manager, Worship Pastor and Youth Leader) which are now out to advert.   Pray that we will be successful in recruiting to these crucial roles and help spread the word by passing on the social media posts and adverts as widely as is possible.

With my love

Steve
