News from the Council Council (PCC)
The PCC met on Monday 28th September. The main items discussed were:
A first draft of the 2023 budget was agreed - the whole church will be asked to renew our individual giving next month
We considered the current financial uncertainty and fast rising inflation in the building sector. In view of this and following advice we agreed to proceed with the Entrance Improvement Project in stages. We expect Planning Permission to be granted in the coming weeks and then will work to put in the foundations and re-lay the car park. We will then pause until there is stability in economy before we put in place the new structure.
We agreed to continue to use individual cups at Holy Communion for the time-being as there remains concern about rising levels of Covid.
We appointed Janet Sehgal as our new Children’s Champion. Janet’s role is to engage and build positive relationships with children, young people and their families and to represent them in the leadership structures of the church.
Big Green Fair
This Sunday 2nd October 12:30-3:30pm. We have a good guest list of local organisations coming to share information about climate issues. Lots of ideas to try, food to enjoy, crafts to encourage wildlife, petitions to join and action to take. Have a tasty lunch with us. Bring your bike if you're a cyclist, to see Dr. Bike. Try a short litter pick with LAGER Can. Learn more about recycling. See what Ealing Friends of the Earth are doing. Hear how A Rocha has transformed a wasteland at Wolf Fields. At least three of our councillors say they'll come, so do come and meet your elected representatives! Please share the news and invite friends and neighbours. Be part of the biggest national campaign in UK with the Great Big Green Week.
Will be open on Sunday 2nd October during Café time and again at the Big Green Fair. New stock to browse!
This fortnight we are praying for those who in Gurnell Grove please do pray for all who live there and for people to come to know Jesus.
Prayer for the Week
you made the goodness of the land,
the riches of the sea
and the rhythm of the seasons;
as we thank you for the harvest,
may we cherish and respect
this planet and its peoples,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
