Vicar's Update

Monday 7th November 2022

I hope you are well.

A big thank you to all who came to help with Sleeves up Saturday.  It was great to see so many (ranging in age from 87 to 8) and we achieved a number of important jobs together.  If you missed out don’t worry as there will be another Sleeves up Saturday in the spring!

All of us will have received a Pledge Pack asking for updated financial pledges for 2023.  If you haven’t already done so, please return your completed pledge by next Sunday (13th November).  The Church Council can then make decisions about next year’s budget. Thank you.

As you know we have been unable to recruit a new Worship Pastor or Youth Leader despite repeated adverts over the last year.  Therefore, the Leadership Team have decided to hold a Day of Prayer and Fasting on Thursday 17th Nov as we continue to seek God for his will and purposes.  We would love everyone in the church to take part and to make this a day when we pray and fast together.  What fasting looks like may vary person to person but however you fast, please do join us in praying together on that day.  To provide a focal point for for the day, there will be a time of prayer and worship in Church from 12noon – 1pm as we gather to pray and listen to God together - all are welcome.

You may have heard that Geof Johnson, (husband of Carmela Amodio-Johnson) died last week after a short illness– his funeral will be in Church on Tuesday 22nd November at 1pm.  Please do pray for the family at this sad time.

Next Sunday (13th) is Remembrance Sunday.  We will be holding our usual services with an act of Remembrance at 11am.

Finally, we have decided to postpone the Tearfund Quiz Night until the New Year.  Apologies to those who were planning to come but it will provide a good opportunity to have a fun evening together in the dark days of January.

Have a good week.

Steve
