Vicar's Update

Tuesday 29th November 2022

I hope you are well.

Firstly I want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who supported our Christmas Fair in any way.  It was wonderful to see so many people come through the doors, and to meet old and make new friends.  Over £3,900 was raised for the work of The Grove Community.  Whilst many people worked hard I want to say a special thanks to the organisers, Nicki Cassidy, Caroline Jamieson and Jane Maffett who worked tirelessly before during and after the event.  Thank you all. Feedback on the day is welcome to jane@ststephens-ealing.org.

If you visited their stall, run by Mark Tate, you may have heard about The Grove Community's plans for 2023, and involvement in The Big Give's Christmas Challenge starting today, Tuesday.  Donations made in this 7 day period will be matched (up to £5,000), so they will get a double benefit. If you have made a pledge already, Mark will be sending you the link, but if not and you would like to give - for example if you missed the fair - you can simply click here

On Sunday we started our Advent journey – this year we are thinking about the great themes of peace, hope, joy and love.  Ian Jamieson started us off by speaking about the peace that Jesus offers us through his presence in our lives.  If you missed the service you can catch up here.   Perhaps you might consider joining with Morning Prayer in this Advent season?  Full details in last Thursday's update.

Thank you to all those who have taken leaflets advertising our Christmas Services to deliver.  There are still lots in Church so if you have a chance this week please do take a bundle and either deliver it in the road indicated or take some unmarked ones to pass on to your neighbours, family and friends.

Our Christmas services kick off on Sunday 11th December at 6pm with our Carol Service.  There will be a choir, brass ensemble and lots of familiar carols to sing so do invite family and friends to come and join in.  After two years of restrictions this will be our first ‘normal’ Carol Service since 2019 and will be followed by Mulled Wine and mince pies.

On Tuesday 6th December at 8pm we have the last monthly Prayer Gathering of 2022 when we will meet to pray for the life of our Church and especially our Christmas services and outreach - can you join us?

If I don't see you before, I hope to see you on Sunday - 9am Traditional Communion and 10.30am All Age Worship.
