Monday 6th March 2023
Yesterday we continued our Lent series looking at habits that can help us to grow closer to God. This week the theme was prayer and we were reminded of the importance of both speaking to and listening to God.
Of course, Prayer is the foundation of all that we do at St Stephen’s and on Tuesday (7th) at 8pm we have our monthly informal Prayer Gathering when we focus our prayer on the work of this church and its ministry. Can you come and join this week?
Also, yesterday we launched our Lent appeal. Since 2017, over a million people living in northern Mozambique have been displaced by a violent uprising; 4,000 have been killed and many others deeply traumatised. This year the Diocese of London are partnering with MANNA (Mozambique Angola Anglican Association) to raise money to train leaders in Mozambique who can provide pastoral care and support for those affected. You can give at any time during Lent on the website or in Church by using the Card reader or a yellow gift aid envelope.
If you were in Church yesterday you will have noticed that both projectors are now working properly. We have purchased a second hand projector and arranged for it to be professionally installed – we are very grateful to Andrew Whadcoat overseeing the work for us all. This is a mid-term solution whilst the Church Council explore a longer term upgrade to our projection system.
Next Sunday (12th March) we have our usual services at 9am and 10.30am both with Communion and children/youth groups at 10.30am. Children in JAM will be having a special session on understanding Communion so please make sure that your child is present.
Have a good week and stay warm!
