Vicar's Update

Monday 13th March 2023

Yesterday we continued our Lent series looking at habits that can help us to grow closer to God. Our theme was fasting which can be a good discipline to help us put aside the distractions of our lives and enable us to focus more sharply on the things of God’s Kingdom.  If you haven’t ever had a go a fasting whether for a meal or longer, can I encourage you to give it a go at some point during Lent and to seek more of God in prayer? If you missed yesterday or want to listen to the talk again again you can catch up here (please note that the service recording is in two files).

Our appeal to raise money to train leaders in Mozambique supporting those affected by trauma following the conflict there, continues through the whole of Lent.   We are also collecting money to buy Easter Eggs for the women in the Marylebone Project.  You can give to either appeal at any time during Lent on the website here or in Church by using the Card reader or a yellow gift aid envelope.

Next Sunday (19th March) as well as our usual 9am Communion we have a special Mothering Sunday Service at 10.30 led by our children in JAM.  It looks like it will be lots of fun so do come and bring your Mums, Grandmas, Aunts, children etc.  There will be a gift for all women at both services.

Also on Sunday our children are holding a Cake Sale in aid of the Ealing Soup Kitchen.   Cakes will be on sale at Café time and after the 10.30am service if there are still some left, so the best advice is to come to Café, grab a coffee and buy some cake.  If you would like to donate cakes to the sale, they would be most welcome.

Yesterday the children in JAM thought about Holy Communion.  Our policy is that children who are baptised can be admitted to Holy Communion if their parents choose but only after they have been entered on the Register which we maintain.  So if your child is baptised and you would like them to start taking Holy Communion please email or speak to me direct.

Finally, we will not be holding Monday and Friday Morning Prayer in Church from now until Monday 17th April.  Morning Prayer will continue online every Tuesday and Thursday at 9am.

Have a good week.

Steve
